In the uncertain post-war Yugoslav countryside, in 1948, Marjeta gives birth to twins, Metod and Cilka. Metod grows up mostly in solitude and, in addition to his complicated relationship with his mother, is also influenced by numerous violent external factors, which are increasingly marked by Metod’s reckless decisions and wild impulsiveness. Metod increasingly comes into various conflicts with his surroundings and the law, which ultimately leads him to treatment in a psychiatric institution. After treatment, he returns to his hometown and finds employment as a warehouseman. Despite his seemingly orderly appearance, his mental state worsens. Excessive drinking, hearings and severe headaches push him deeper and deeper into inner turmoil. One evening, after drinking, he begins to stalk a young girl, who he barely escapes. A dark monster creeps onto the surface and Metod’s murderous rampage begins.
